Her first children’s book, Zoopa (Chronicle Books, 2005) was placed on the prestigious Texas 2x2 list and was nominated for the Northern California Book Award in Children's Literature as one of the best works by a Northern California author published in 2005. Her next book, One Too Many (Chronicle Books, 2010) will be out in the spring.
"I have these old, torn little books I used to make as a child. For as long as I can remember, I have loved making books and writing stories. Many of my early subjects were animals - they all were an oval shaped body and round head. If it was an elephant, I added a trunk. If it was a dog, I added floppy ears. I look at these early drawings and think how simple things used to be! I now love to get lost in small details, the way an ear folds across a brow, or the way an eye is shaped." |
